Ensuring An Organisation Maintains It's Cutting Edge

Organisation
A long established Worldwide Mission based in the UK with missionaries throughout the world with a particular interest in pioneer work.

Project
Christian Training was asked to develop an event which would "ensure that our UK ministries have a cutting edge and are relevant, adaptable and reflecting our faith stance"

Delegates
Approximately 100 of their workers based in the UK working in both support ministries and as missionaries.

Customised Training
Christian Training had already worked with this organisation before in Leadership Development, Presentation Skills and Vision Building. The Christian Training session was part of the mission's staff conference and looked at:

• What is the destination of my ministry?
• What are the overall journey plans?
• Identifying the milestones
• The next stage of the journey
• First steps

Response
Many were challenged to think about what the purpose of their ministry was and develop plans that reflected this purpose. One lady in particular said that the session helped her to see the "wood" from the "trees" and learn to say "no" to some of the requests she had received that were not in her field of ministry.

Mentoring Others

Organisation
A UK ministry working cross-culturally alongside international students at colleges and universities.

Project
Christian Training was asked to lead a day of training on mentoring after a team leader had been on a course at Bawtry Hall, Doncaster.

Delegates
Twenty-four workers from all parts of the country.

Customised Training
The training day programme included:

• Qualities of a mentor and mentoree
• Mentoring skills
• Listening
• Asking questions
• Giving feedback
• Benefits of mentoring

Response
"It really was a very stimulating and helpful day and I trust that we all went away encouraged to explore further the possibilities of mentoring and being mentored in our different situations. I certainly did." (A comment from one delegate)

Church Vision Building

Organisation
The Leadership Team of a large inner-city church.

Project
The leaders were struggling with a few decisions about the future ministry of the church and asked Christian Training to lead a day helping them to focus on the mission of the church and how that related to the decisions they needed to make.

Nine members of the Leadership Team.

The day looked at the following:
